Delhi MCD polls: CM Arvind Kejriwal vows to empower RWAs, give money for local-level work
Interacting with the city’s residents’ welfare associations on Thursday, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said that these bodies would be “empowered” with more financial powers and a greater say in the execution of development projects in their areas if AAP came to power in the MCD. The civic elections are scheduled for December 4.
“The rest will be engaged by Friday. Home Guards will also be placed as soon as the returning officers take over the polling booths by Saturday. Electronic voting machines (EVMs) will be handed over to polling booths on the polling day,” said an official.
Of the 140 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), 107 have already been deployed in two phases.
At least 493 micro observers have been deployed at sensitive/hyper-sensitive polling locations and provision for web casting has been made for the polling day.“The micro observers will remain stationed at these locations throughout December 4 and keep a watch on the proceedings at the booths. We are in regular touch with Delhi Police, and based on its suggestions, we will engage drones for monitoring some hypersensitive booths, if needed,”said an official. Out of the 13,638 polling stations, 3,356 are sensitive/critical.
