Nagpur: The Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation Limited on Thursday issued tenders worth Rs165 crore for completing pending works of roads and bridges in Pardi, Punapur, Bharatwada and Bhandewadi areas in East Nagpur under Area Based Development (ABD) of Smart City project.
NSSCDCL chief executive officer Chinmay Gotmare said the earlier contract with Shapoorji Pallonji Company Private Limited (SPCPL) was cancelled due to delay in the work.
On October 10, 2018, NSSCDCL had engaged SPCPL and issued work order to carry out the TenderSURE project worth Rs650 crore.
In the last meeting of the NSSSCDCL board of directors, SPCPL was allowed to withdraw from the project and decision was taken to appoint a new contractor. SPCPL, a Mumbai based firm, had left the project comprising 49.76km roads, 28 bridges and culverts, four elevated storage reservoirs and allied civil works midway citing lack of work front in ABD.
The project completion date was of April 26, 2020 (which comes to around 565 days). However, work was done for 12.36km roads, 10 bridges, culverts and four ESRS.
NSSCDCL now intends to complete all the remaining works of TenderSURE in six months.
The pending works have been divided into six packages, due to which they will be done on time, as per Gotmare.
In the new tender process, four packages are for laying cement concrete roads (first package of Rs62.48 crore, second Rs33.38 crore, third Rs 14.75 crore and fourth Rs21.77 crore). The fifth package of Rs22.23 crore is related to construction of bridges and sixth package of Rs10.44 crore is for completing the incomplete elevated storage reservoirs.
The tender process is likely to be completed by December 15.
