Noida: 17-year-old boy sent to correctional home for sodomising 10-year-old

NOIDA: A 10-year-old boy was allegedly sodomised by a teenager in a village of Ecotech 3. Police said that the incident took place on November 13, but the parties filed a complaint on Tuesday evening.
The 17-year-old boy was apprehended and produced before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) on Wednesday which sent him to a correctional home.
"The accused and the survivor both belong to adjoining villages. The parents of the 10-year-old said their son was playing outside the home when the accused lured him and took him to an isolated place in their village and committed the crime," said Vinod Kumar, the station house officer of Ecotech 3 police station.
The child later narrated the ordeal to his parents.
Based on the complaint, police have registered a case under IPC Section 377 (unnatural sex) and sections of the POCSO Act.
The latest data by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) released on August 29 shows that 1,49,404 cases of crime against children were registered in 2021 out of which 53,874 (36.05%) were under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. In 2020, out of a total of 1,28,531 cases of crime against children, 47,221 were under POCSO. Meanwhile, in 2019, out of a total of 1,48,185 cases of crime against children, 47,335 were under POCSO.
Last year, Uttar Pradesh registered the largest number of 7,129 cases registered under POCSO, followed by 6,200 in Maharashtra, 6,070 in Madhya Pradesh, 4,465 in Tamil Nadu and 2,813 in Karnataka.
