CPI (Maoist) commander surrenders in Jharkhand's Chatra
Kamlesh Yadav surrenders in Chatra on Wednesday
CHATRA: Area commander of CPI (Maoist), Kamlesh Yadav, on Wednesday surrendered before Chatra DC Abu Imran and SP Rakesh Ranjan and officers of 190 battalion of CRPF under the naxal surrender policy (Nayi Disha).
He was member of the squad headed by special area committee member Gautam Paswan. After laying down arms, Ranjan urged other extremists to surrender and return to the mainstream society.
Yadav said, “I am forced to surrender due to exploitation in the outfit. I want to lead a normal life with my family. The government's surrender policy encouraged me to take the step.”
He is a resident of Pratappur in Chatra. He joined the outfit in 2014 and was wanted in eight cases of violence and arms act lodged in police stations of Palamu and Chatra. “I was a daily wager in Sirsa of Haryana. Maoists convinced me to join them assuring to solve my issue. I fell in their trap and joined the outfit.”
