Law & order broken down completely in TN: EPS
Salem: AIADMK interim general secretary Edappadi K Palanaswami has charged that the law and order in Tamil Nadu has broken down completely.
Talking to reporters after inaugurating new schemes in his native Edappadi constituency in Salem on Wednesday, EPS said that media reports are replete with news on serious crimes like murder, theft, rape and smuggling of drugs. Instead of acknowledging the fact that there was a spike in crimes, chief minister M K Stalin was in a denial mode. Instead of controlling crime, Stalin was accusing the opposition parties of spreading lies, he said.
“This is not a propaganda by opposition parties as Stalin says. People across the state are upset with the government for the deteriorating law and order,” he said.
EPS said the AIADMK was only pointing out what was happening across the state. “We are doing our duty as an opposition party. It is Stalin who has failed in his duty as chief minister,’’ he said.
On Stalin’s charge that Tamil Nadu did not see any development during the 10 year AIADMK rule, Palaniswami listed various people welfare schemes and projects implemented by AIADMK including ‘kudimaramathu’ scheme, construction of check dams, establishment of new government arts and science colleges, 11 government medical colleges and building a livestock research institute.
EPS said he was ready for an open debate on the schemes implemented by AIADMK and dared Stalin to join the debate.
“We will list out our projects. Let Stalin name atleast one good project implemented by DMK. Let the people decide whose government was best,’’ EPS said. tnn
