Royal Enfield is certainly gearing up to dominate the middle-weight motorcycle segment ahead of other players. For said mission, they already have the parallel-twin 650 platform, which has proven its mettle in the Interceptor and the Continental. However, it seems RE does not want to leave any base unchecked and is also developing a new 450 cc engine to fill the gap. Here are five new motorcycles based on the new platforms that will soon be launched by RE in India.
1. Super Meteor 650:Royal Enfield has already given us a taste of things to come by unveiling the Super Meteor 650. It is a true blue highway cruiser that has the dimensions and the power to go with it thanks to the 648cc parallel-twin engine, producing 44 hp and 52.3 Nm torque. The cruiser is expected to go on sale by January 2023.

2. Himalayan 450:The company has developed an all-new 450 cc engine which will power a range of different upcoming motorcycles. The first iteration is reported to be the Himalayan 450, a more hard-core version of the outgoing Himalayan with better equipment and off-road capabilities, boasting about 40 hp.

3. New Bullet 350 based on J-platform:Pictures circulating the internet also hint toward RE developing an all-new Bullet 350 for the Indian market. The new Bullet will be based on the Meteor and Classic 350s’ J-platform single-cylinder 349 cc engine that produces 20.1 hp and 27 Nm torque. The launch is expected in the first few months of 2023.

4. Himalayan 650:For those who would want an even more powerful adventure bike than the Himalayan 450, several reports confirm that RE is also working on bringing the Himalayan 650. It is unclear if the bigger ADV will be named after the Himalayan when it goes into production but what you can bet on is that it is on its way. With higher performance, the Himalayan 650 could also be a more touring-friendly motorcycle and take the fight against the likes of Kawasaki Versys 650 and Suzuki V-Strom 650 XT.

5. Shotgun 650:The Shotgun 650 is the iteration of the twin-cylinder platform which enthusiasts have been anxiously waiting for ever since the concept bike was shown back in December 2021. It is expected to be a middle-weight bobber featuring a large tank, bikini-fairing headlamp, and 43 mm upside-down front shocks, similar to the ones we have seen in the Super Meteor 650.

While the motorcycle manufacturers' plans seem to be in place, it is difficult to guess the time frame in which these will go into production. The Super Meteor 650 is all set to launch in January and if reports are to be believed then RE will launch the Himalayan 450 in the second half of 2023.
