Short-term Covid-19 healthcare workers to get benefit in recruitment exams
BHUBANESWAR: The state government has framed a rule to give weightage in marks to short-term Covid health workers engaged in healthcare facilities during the pandemic. This weightage will help them to get extra marks in recruitment examinations.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, thousands of short-term healthcare workers including nursing officers, pharmacists, radiographers, laboratory technicians and multipurpose health workers were engaged by the state in district headquarters hospitals (DHHs), medical college and hospitals and other Covid-care centers.
Keeping their contribution in mind, the state notified ‘Odisha grant of weightage in marks in the recruitment for short-term Covid-19 healthcare workers rules, 2022’ on Tuesday.
According to the rules, these short-term healthcare workers, who were engaged for a minimum period of three months, will be allowed weightage of five percent extra marks in the next recruitment examination to be conducted by the Odisha Sub-Ordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC) to the posts of Nursing Officers, Pharmacists, Radiographers, Laboratory Technicians and Multipurpose Healthcare Worker. This will be a one time measure, said the official sources.
