Karnataka: Dhabas raided for serving liquor

DAVANAGERE: Following complaints from the public about dhaba hotels around Jarikatte village illegally serving liquor, Davanagere rural police headed by ASP Kanika Sakriyal along with Hadadi station police and Harihar rural police raided Adhya Green Rest, Rock Pool and The State Dhaba hotel on Monday night and found liquor being supplying to customers.
The dhabas were also found to be open beyond the prescribed time of 10.30pm. The police issued notices asking them why their hotel licences must not be cancelled? There is no provision to allow the public to carry liquor inside hotels and consume it there. The hotels are not liable to supply liquor to customers, as per conditions laid down while issuing the licences, police said.
Besides, all the dhabha hotels should be shut by 10.30pm without any further delay, the police warned, adding that their licences will automatically get cancelled if they violate these norms. In this connection, three persons were taken into custody and further inquiry is on, police added.
