AAP, BJP workers clash during Kejriwal roadshow
Surat: AAP and BJP workers came face to face in Katargam area on Monday during the roadshow of Delhi chief minister and AAP’s national convener Arvind Kejriwal. After attacking each other, workers of both the parties pelted a few stones at each other. However, the police immediately took control of the situation.
The incident took place in narrow lanes of Magan Nagar near Dhanmora crossroads. Kejriwal’s roadshow was planned from Katargam to Varachha, passing through four assembly constituencies.
“The stones were pelted near BJP’s local election office. Their workers entered into an argument with ours and initiated the problem,’’ said Gopal Italia, Gujarat convener of AAP.
“BJP workers are upset due to the popularity of AAP, hence they are resorting to such acts,” Italia added.
Recently, the AAP had alleged that stones were pelted on a rally and a child got injured. AAP leaders also alleged that one of their workers was stabbed in Limbayat two days ago after a public meeting.
In August, AAP’s state general secretary Manoj Sorathiya was attacked by BJP workers during Ganesh Mahotsav in Simada area.
In his speech during his roadshow, Kejirwal said: “They did not do any work in 27 years and only did hooliganism. If they had done some work, they need not have to pelt stones.”
Earlier in the day, Kejriwal met workers of the diamond industry and assured them of solutions to their problems. At a press conference, Kejriwal claimed that his party would form a government.
