NEW DELHI: Prime Minister
Narendra Modi on Monday sought "insights" on the
Budget from the public as finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman wrapped up consultations with stakeholders.
Over the last few years, the government has begun crowd-sourcing suggestions for the annual financial exercise, which comes with several policy interventions and changes to rev up the economy.
This year's pre-Budget consultations were planned in eight phases, starting November 21, 2022, with each group asked to send their written suggestions in detail. Each group, including economists, trade unions, farmer lobby groups, representatives from the financial sector& markets and industry bodies had been allotted 75 minutes with every speaker given three minutes each to make verbal suggestions to explain the important recommendations. The inputs from these consultations feed into Budget preparation with the suggestions carefully weighed.
