NAGPUR: Agriculture minister of
Arunachal Pradesh, Tage Taki, said people of his state owe a lot to people of Maharashtra and they look forward to learn patriotism from them.
He also said people of the north eastern state look at historical personalities like Vinayak Damodar Sawarkar, Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Maratha king Shivaji for inspiration, also giving credit to RSS-affiliated organizations like Kalyan Ashram for changing their lives.
Taki was speaking at the concluding function of Agrovision expo on agriculture patronized by union transport minister Nitin Gadkari. Union agriculture minister Narendra Tomar was also scheduled to come for the conclusion ceremony but he did not turn up.
Taki, a
BJP leader, said Arunachal Pradesh and Maharashtra have links since 1960s when personalities like Padmanabha Acharya and Vinayak Kanetkar worked there. “A number of children from Arunachal were educated by them in Mumbai and many are at high posts in the state government these days,” he said.
Acharya was in-charge of Arunachal Pradesh apart from other north-eastern states in the BJP’s national executive. Kanetkar was an RSS pracharak who is credited to have laid the foundation for organization’s presence in the north-east. He passed away in July.
“Arunachal has a large area but was not well-connected. This is now being made possible by Nitin Gadkari,” Taki said. He said in his state Gadkari is known as spiderman because of the web of roads he has spread.
Taki said Arunachal also takes cue from Agrovision to adopt it in best agriculture practices. The state hopes to come up as a major exporter of spices, apart from promoting edible oil industry. Work has begun on setting up two edible oil plants in the state, he said.
Addressing the concluding function, Gadkari said farmers need to carry out agriculture operations keeping profitability in mind.
