AHMEDABAD: The family of a school principal approached the Gujarat high court demanding a thorough probe by a special investigation team (SIT), after the woman was found hanging from a ceiling fan in mysterious circumstances. The family alleged that this is a case of murder.
Hinting at the involvement of the woman's live-in partner, the family in its petition filed through advocate Prashant Chavda contended that she had a troubled relationship with her live-in partner. When the family learned about the incident, they filed a complaint at Adalaj police station demanding an investigation, but police have not heeded the demand and maintained that this was a case of suicide.
The woman was divorced and her live-in partner is a married man. She was the principal of a higher secondary school in Halvad, Surendranagar district. The family claimed she was in a relationship with the man and they had signed a live-in relationship agreement. It has also been alleged that the woman wanted to break off the relationship due to harassment by her partner.
The woman's mother called her on August 30, when she disappeared, but she did not respond. On September 4, the family was told that she had committed suicide in Gandhinagar.
