Mysuru: The forest department on Monday launched a combing operation to monitor the activities of two orphaned cubs of ‘Nayanji Katte Female’ which was found dead on November 12. One of the three orphaned cubs was found dead on Sunday.
Foresters launched the combing operation with the help of additional camera traps, and elephants Arjuna and
Lakshmi. The camera traps confirmed their movement, and officials decided to monitor their activities. Senior officials are part of this combing operation.
After the death of Nayanji Katte Female, the forest department installed over 30 new camera traps to follow the activities of the three cubs. However, a male cub was found dead on Sunday. Officials suspect that it died in a fight with another stronger tiger.
Foresters in the area have reasoned that this might have been a case of territorial fight. Efforts have been stepped up to track down two other cubs.
