Assam: 35,000 looted from businessman at gunpoint

GUWAHATI: Two bike-borne robbers looted Rs 35,000 from a businessman at gunpoint in Tingrai locality under Digboi police station in Tinsukia district on Saturday. They also took away his mobile phones.
The incident took place when businessman Nitai Majumdar was returning home from his shop located in the Tingrai bazar locality in the evening.
“I was coming back home in my two-wheeler when the miscreants came on a bike and stopped me. One of them drew close to me with a gun, pointed it at my forehead, and asked for my bag and other belongings. I handed them my bag that had Rs 35,000 in cash and some mobile handsets,” Majumdar told the media.
Meanwhile, Digboi PS OC Ranjit Bordoloi said, “We are investigating the matter..”
