Jaipur: BJP national president JP Nadda will launch 51 Rath Yatras (Chariot Rally) from Jaipur on December 1 to mark the beginning of the state wide Jan Aakrosh Yatra (JAY) to highlight the Congress government’s failures. In a press conference held at BJP headquarters on Sunday, BJP state president Satish Poonia said that Nadda will flag off the specially built chariots which will reach all district headquarters by December 2.
“From December 4, the chariots will start travelling in all 200 constituencies from towns, villages and hamlets. The local and district level leaders will address rallies, and party activists will hold Nukkad Sabhas and 20,000 Chaupals (village meetings) to reach out to the 2 crore people of the state. The JAY will culminate on December 20,” said Poonia.
From December 14-20, in every assembly, a public meeting will be held that will be addressed by local and state-level leaders. “The yatra will expose the Congress government’s policy of appeasement at the cost of the majority community, rise in crimes against women, unemployment, unrest in farmers and rise in power tariff. The other side of JAY is to share and showcase the benefits of PM Narendra Modi’s social welfare schemes like PM Kisan Nidhi Yojana, PM Ujjwala Yojana, Bharatmala, Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) etc,” said Poonia.
The party has released a ‘charge sheet’ against the Congress government highlighting crime rate, unemployment, power tariff, appeasement, attack on Hindu priests, farmers’ loans not waived etc.
Claiming that the yatra will not be a one-sided affair, Poonia said that every chariot will have a complaint box and a helpline number printed on it. “The idea is to provide an opportunity to citizens to post their complaints and seek their suggestions in the box. They can even give a missed call on the number 8140200200 so that they can be contacted and their complaints heard. The party will first try and provide a solution to their problems. The next move is to compile their suggestions in the party manifesto and the chargesheet that we will release against the Congress party,” said Poonia.
The party has also released a theme song ‘Kya tumhe khabar hai, Umad raha hai jan aakrosh (Do you know that people’s resentment is rising). The song will be played all through the duration of 20 days.
To build momentum for the campaign, senior leaders will hold a press conference in every district on November 28 . The rally is seen as the biggest move in the run up to the assembly elections scheduled next year. BJP central leaders with state leaders have planned the state wide programme of the JAY. Other than Poonia, party national in-charge Arun Singh, Jaipur Rural MP Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Rajya Sabha MP Kirori Lal Meena, Leader of Opposition Gulab Chand Kataria, Jaipur MP Ramcharan Bohra and Depu Leader of Opposition Rajendra Rathore attended the press conference.
