Jharkhand: 48kg explosives used to raze 110m chimney
JAMSHEDPUR: More than two-decades-old 110 metre-long chimney at coke plant of Tata Steel near Sakchi was pulled down by controlled implosion technique on Sunday.
Vice-president, corporate services, Tata Steel, Chankaya Chaudhury said that around 48kg of explosives were used in the whole process which lasted for 11 seconds. The cost behind this implosion was around Rs 2 crore.
Keeping all safety and environment measures in mind, the whole process was carried out so that dust from the debris does not create pollution in the surroundings.
