The football program at Arizona State has been going through a difficult time in the recent past. First, Head Coach Herman Edwards was fired in September following a loss to Eastern Michigan and considerable losses in the transfer portal. Then, the NCAA is investigating an alleged violation of recruitment rules under Edwards. Now the authorities hope to reverse the trend with Dillingham.

Hopefully, the final announcement on Dillingham's appointment will come on Monday.

Dillingham, 32, who hails from Phoenix, will be the youngest coach in the Power 5. He is a 2012 pass-out of Arizona State University and a former coach with the Chaparral High School in Scottsdale. In 2014 he was an offensive analyst under the then Arizona State Head Coach Todd Graham.

Unstable leadership had affected Arizona's football program adversely. In addition, the transfer portal was impacted negatively, which was reflected in ASU's four consecutive losses to end the last season. However, with Dillingham and his experience as an offensive coordinator at Memphis, Auburn, and Florida State, fans are hoping for a quick turnaround in ASU’s fortunes.
