Gumla: Don Bosco School held its annual sports meet on a grand scale here on Saturday.
Similar to the
Olympics, a five-ring flag was hoisted at the event. Also, an oath-taking ceremony and a torch rally were organised to spread the message of sportsmanship, discipline, peace, harmony and goodwill among participants. Both junior and senior students participated in 40 events of athletics at the meet.
"Students practised hard for past one month to make the meet a success. Besides education, the school also engages its students in sports and other co-curricular activities for their holistic development," said principal Fr Birendra Lakra.
IAS probationer Ashish Gangwar was the chief guest of the event. “Schools should identify the budding talents to facilitate their future endeavours. I urge the students and the parents to speak and act against child marriage, use of intoxications and witch-hunting etc. to end these social evils,” Gangwar said. tnn
