YAVATMAL: The Tribal Forum has slammed the attempts being made to hush up the death of a BA-II tribal student in Government Tribal Hostel at Pandharkawda on June 10.
Vice president of the forum and social activist Ankit Naitam has demanded an impartial enquiry from the tribal development minister into the death of the Kolam tribal student Ramesh Ramdas Meshram.
Ramesh had been admitted in the Government Hospital on June 8. Ramesh's sister Vanita Meshram, a nursing student, has alleged that her brother died due to the negligence of the hostel staffers. She lodged a complaint at the police station and the tribal development project office, but to no avail. The police didn't even conduct post mortem.
Naitam lodged a complaint with the tribal minister and requested him for a thorough probe. The tribal development department on September 29, appointed project director Yashini Nagarajan of Pandharkawda to enquire into the death of the student. Nagarajan constituted a three-member probe panel comprising assistant project director SA Ramteke, Kelapur tehsildar Ramdas Bije, and tribal inspector A Dhurve, and asked them to report back to her before November 18 after completing enquiry.
