MANGALURU: A nurse from Dakshina Kannada district is part of the medical team of the FIFA World Cup 2022, being held in Qatar. Prathibha N Darkhasu, of Darkhasu village in Kundabettu, Bantwal taluk, has received the opportunity to work as the nursing in-charge of the medical team for the FIFA World Cup. Prathibha has been working as a nursing staff at Hamad Medical Corporation, the main provider of secondary and tertiary healthcare in Qatar. She has been appointed in-charge of the team of nurses in the medical team of the World Cup.
She is the daughter of Narayana Poojary – Shrimathi couple from Soorande village of Siddakatte in Bantwal taluk. A source close to the family told STOI that Prathibha and her husband Naveen Poojari, a native of Kudambettu Dota in Bantwal, have been working in Doha for the past several years.
“She had received the honour for her meritorious service during Covid-19 pandemic. Prathibha is the only woman member from Karnataka in the medical team of the world cup. She got the opportunity in the medical team considering her meritorious service in the past few years. It is a pride for people of Bantwal and Dakshina Kannada,” the source said.

World Cup Qatar 2022 medical team. I extend my sincere gratitude to the medical team for giving me an opportunity to serve.”
