ESG conducts masterclasses for Goan filmmakers
Panaji: Even while it is the 18th year running of Goa hosting Iffi, film enthusiasts from the state are not always successful in securing tickets to the masterclasses. This year, offering a platform to budding filmmakers in Goa to learn the nuances of filmmaking, the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) organised master classes for members of Goa’s film fraternity who attended a free four-day workshop on an invite-only basis.
“We hope Goan filmmakers benefit from such masterclasses,” said ESG general body member Sharmad Raiturkar. “We want people who are making films in Goa, irrespective of the language, to learn from the workshop.”
Participants got to learn about storytelling, lighting and digital cinematography among other subjects. They were also briefed on the successful adaptation of books to screen, pitching projects to producers and OTT platforms, handling actors and the challenges that are part of filmmaking
Highlighting the need for film education in Goa so that content-driven cinema is released from the state, Raiturkar said, “Technology-driven films are being made day after day. However films in Goa are still in the crawling stages. The younger generation must therefore get film education.”
