MUMBAI: CM Eknath Shinde and his MLAs, who rebelled against the leadership of Uddhav Thackeray to form their own Shiv Sena faction, are set to leave for Guwahati on Saturday to pay homage to Kamakhya temple.
Meanwhile, the Shinde-led Balasahebanchi Shiv Sena got its own office opposite Mantralaya, a party functionary said on Friday. A government bungalow, which is under renovation, will serve as the office of the Shinde-led faction, he said. The premises is located near Shivalaya, the office of the Shiv Sena (UBT) party.
Shinde and 39 rebel MLAs had camped in Guwahati in June as they mounted a coup against the MVA government. They had also visited Kamakhya temple. They later formed a new government with the BJP.
Making a dig at the visit, NCP leader Ajit Pawar said, "I was told that the last time, they ran up a huge bill which remained unpaid and the hotel owner committed suicide. We have also heard that bulls are sacrificed at Kamakhya temple." The Shinde faction MLA, whose statement during the stakeout had gone viral, also spoke about the visit. Earlier he had said, "What trees, what mountains, what a hotel! Ekdum Okay." On Friday he said, "The Shinde government is Ekdum Okay."
