Jamnagar North assembly constituency, which is part of Jamnagar district, came into existence after 2008 delimitation. It is part of the Jamnagar Lok Sabha constituency.

The contest here is in the limelight because Rivaba Jadeja, wife of Indian cricketer Ravindra Jadeja is contesting here on a BJP ticket. What makes it even more interesting is that Ravindra Jadeja's sister Naina Jadeja is campaigning for the Congress candidate from the same Jamnagar seat.

Rivaba replaced sitting MLA Dharmendrasinh Jadeja as the BJP face for the Jamnagar (North) seat. The Congress candidate is Bipendrasinh Jadeja. The AAP candidate is Karsanbhai Karmur.

The seat was won by the Congress in 2012 and the BJP in 2017.

Cricketer Jadeja tweeted a video urging the people of Jamnagar and cricket fans to vote for his wife.

Rivaba said rival ideologies in the same family did not cause any problems during campaigning.

"My sister-in-law is influenced by some other ideology and is working for it, in the same way, I am influenced by BJP and am fulfilling my duties. There is only a difference of opinion and no personal differences between the two of us," Rivaba Jadeja told ANI.
