Chennai police detain 442 anti-socials under Goondas Act

CHENNAI: The Chennai city police have detained 442 anti-socials under the Goondas Act from January 1 to November 25.
Of them, 265 suspects indulged in murder and attempts to murder cases and endangered public peace. As many as 100 people were arrested for robbery, theft, snatching and financial frauds while 59 others were booked for smuggling and selling ganja and drugs. Eight people were arrested for running prostitution houses, two others were involved in women harassment and seven indulged in cybercrimes. One person was arrested for smuggling essential commodities.
The police detained 15 anti-socials under the Goondas Act from November 19 to November 25. They included Mohammad Rasool, 24, of Perambur, Mani alias ‘Fish’ Mani, 27, of Perungudi and Shaddique Batcha, 22, of Pattalam. They were involved in robbery and theft cases.
