‘Coffee with collector’ for first-time voters
Rajkot: Rajkot district collector Arun Mahesh Babu has decided to organize ‘coffee with collector’ programme with first-time voters to encourage them to participate in the election process. The programme will be held in different constituencies of Rajkot city. Cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara, who is the brand ambassador for the Election Commission, will also join the first time voters in the programme. Babu is also mulling holding dinner for two first-time voters in each constituency who vote early in the morning. However, the dinner programmes will be finalized next week.
Meanwhile, teams of the district administration are aggressively campaigning to ensure high voter turnout on December 1 when Rajkot goes to poll in the first phase.
The district administration further plans to use the database of Rajkot Municipal Corporation to send SMSs to property taxpayers. They will also distribute election related pamphlets door-to-door. The Jamnagar district administration is pasting messages to encourage voting on telephone bills, electricity bills, gas bills, postal cover etc.
