Panaji: In order to build Goa’s talent pool, the private sector needs to tie up with institutes of higher learning such as Goa Institute of Management’s Atal Incubation Centre to identify solutions to industry challenges, said chief minister Pramod Sawant.
Speaking at a hackathon on Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, Sawant said that hackathons help nurture a culture of innovation among students and innovators.
Goa Shipyard Limited organised the hackathon in order to spur innovation in shipbuilding, marine technology and defence.
“This hackathon will give students, innovators, startups and companies an opportunity to offer solutions to challenges faced by the shipbuilding, marine and defence sectors,” he said. “I urge more companies to tie up with GIM to organise similar events and build Goa’s talent pool.”
Sawant said that once Goa creates skilled human resources in the IT sector, the state can emerge as one of the top startup destinations in the country.
The winners of the hackathon will be announced in January.
