Two and a half years after the pandemic started going down, there are clear winners making an appearance in the race for bringing tourism economies back to the levels prior to the pandemic. Europe is topping that list, as per the latest data available from the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
As a result of intra-regional travel, along with American tourists flocking back to their preferred places, Europe accounted for 68% of the world’s 477 million worldwide arrivals between January and September this year. This figure indicates a recovery of 81% of its tourist arrivals prior to the pandemic.
