Narendra Modi on Thursday said the Mopa airport will be inaugurated soon.
He made the announcement during his virtual address at the Rojgar Melava organised by the state government at Raj Bhavan.
The event saw the government offering joining letters to 1,250 candidates for jobs in the police department, directorate of fire and emergency services, agriculture department, and in the directorate of planning, statistics and evaluation.
“The new greenfield international airport at Mopa, constructed at a cost of over Rs 3000 crore, will be inaugurated shortly. During the construction of the airport, a lot of people have got employment. Similarly, ongoing connectivity and infrastructure projects will also generate employment for the people of the state,” the PM said while pointing out that in the last eight years, the Centre has invested thousands of crores of rupees in the development of Goa.
He commended the state government for taking the right steps in providing employment to the people of the state. With as many as 900 joining letters given to candidates by the Goa Police alone at Thursday’s Rojgar Melava, the PM said it would not only strengthen the department, but would also help in keeping Goans and tourists safe.
