The NSE Nifty index ended the session 216.85 points up at 18484.1, while BSE Sensex rose 762.1 points to 62272.68.
In the Nifty index, .(up 4.56 per cent), .(up 4.55 per cent), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.(up 3.50 per cent), .(up 2.95 per cent) and Ltd.(up 2.93 per cent) stood among the top gainers.
On the other hand, .(down 1.14 per cent), .(down 0.91 per cent), .(down 0.44 per cent), .(down 0.15 per cent) and .(down 0.13 per cent) were among the top losers of the day.
