KANPUR: After the inclusion of Outer police into the Commissionerate, hi-tech CCTV cameras will be installed in 11 police stations and all the outposts.
The Commissioner of Police and the Joint Commissioner of Police have taken the decision in this regard because the outer police stations are in rural areas and far away from the district headquarters. Also, the police stations of Kanpur Outer are quite infamous in terms of law and order and redressal of complaints.
In such a situation, CCTV cameras will be installed to keep an eye on functioning of police stations and outposts from the headquarters itself.
This arrangement is already in place in the police stations and major outposts of the Commissionerate.Joint Commissioner of Police -Anand Prakash Tiwari said that with the installation of these hi-tech cameras, one will be able to hear the entire conversation of the police station/outpost staff.
“With this, we will easily come to know about the behaviour of the police towards the public, especially the complainants in the stations and outposts. If they (police) assault or harass, then the video along with the voice will be captured in the CCTV camera. This will reduce the complaints of misbehaviour of the police from the complainants in the police stations and outposts,” said JCP further.
