KORAPUT: Border Security Force (BSF) in association with Malkangiri district administration on Wednesday opened a computer skill development centre for youths and students at Jantapai command operation base in Swabhiman anchal.
"There had been a demand by local youths to open a computer training centre in Swabhiman anchal. The centre will provide basic computer knowledge to local youths and students which will help them in career building," said Malkangiri collector Vishal Singh.
He said the district administration has provided five computers and both theory and practical classes will be conducted by professionals from the BSF.
"The project has been taken up on a pilot basis. Based on its success, more such centres would be opened in remote areas of the district," the collector said.
Officials said the syllabus and duration of the course will be finalised soon and special classes would be held for school students once a fortnight.
"Also, it has been planned to provide internet connectivity in the centre and to teach students how to fill up online forms for various government and non-governmental activities," said Shiv Om, commandant, BSF Malkangiri.
"As basic knowledge of computers is essential, we are hopeful that more local youths will avail the benefits of the computer centre," the BSF commandantadded.
