Fire in garbage at Barmer hospital causes chaos, no casualties reported
Jaisalmer: A pile of garbage on Barmer Medical College and Hospital premises caught fire on Wednesday, catching both medical staff and patients off guard and causing a commotion and chaos.
Dr BL Mansuria, the hospital superintendent said the pile of garbage at the back door of the hospital had caught fire possibly because someone using the rest room threw a bidi or cigarette on it. “The fire was immediately controlled by the hospital administration, and a big accident was averted,” he said.
As the fire started, patients started running out of the hospital, many with the drips in their hands, before the hospital administration took the patients safely out of the wards and efforts began to control the fire. Sources said the fire occurred at an all-religion prayer due to short circuit and started spreading with clouds of smoke emerging from the hospital premises. TNN
