Two bike thieves arrested in Madurai

MADURAI: The Madurai district police on Thursday arrested two men in connection with motorcycle theft cases and seized 12 two-wheelers from them.
In a statement, Madurai district superintendent of police (SP) R Shiva Prasad said several cases of two-wheeler thefts had been registered in the Thirumangalam Town police station limits since September 30. A police team was formed to investigate and trace the suspects. On Thursday, the police team arrested C Palpandi, 30, of Theni and M Vijay, 23, of Tirunelveli. Both were residing in Madurai.
The duo, who were found to have been involved in 12 cases of bike thefts, were remanded in judicial custody.
The SP warned of strict action against anyone indulging in thefts. Repeat offenders would be detained under the Goondas Act.
