Assam: 3 JIST students stabbed by youth over right of way

GUWAHATI: Three students of Jorhat Institute of Science and Technology (JIST) were stabbed by a youth who came in a car along with his two friends on Tuesday evening, the police said.
The three students, undergoing treatment at the Jorhat Medical College Hospital (JMCH), are, however, out of danger, the police source said.
Jorhat superintendent of police Mohan Lal Meena, told TOI, “The JIST students were walking around the evening on the national highway service lane, when a four-wheeler came honked from behind. Soon, a scuffle broke out between the two groups over right of way. One of the passengers came out of the car and attacked the students with a small knife, following which one of them was seriously injured. We have apprehended two accused but the person who attacked with the knife is absconding.”
The police officer added that of the three accused, one is a juvenile and rest two are adults. They have been identified as Siddharth Borah (age not confirmed) from Jorhat and Pappu Payeng (21) from Majuli district.
The police said three victims are 5th semester students and hail from Bokakhat (Golaghat district), Nazira (Sivasagar district) and Titabar (Jorhat district) of the state.
