Vasco police get cracking on tenant verification

Vasco: Vasco police on Thursday conducted a special tenant verification drive.
“In the case of most heinous crimes it has been found that the perpetrators were residing in rented premises. As Vasco is considered to be a mini India, where people of all states have settled and mostly reside in rented premises, tenant verification is a must,” Vasco PI Kapil Nayak told TOI.
He said that a police team was dispatched to find out if the homeowners had submitted tenant verification forms.
“We have informed house owners about the importance of tenant verification and have appealed to them to fill the forms so that persons with criminal backgrounds can be caught or tracked,” Nayak said, adding that a history-sheeter was recently arrested by Vasco police and handed over to UP police.
Besides creating awareness among homeowners about the importance of tenant verification, police said the drive was also aimed at ensuring that undesirable elements did not take shelter in the area.
