Ranchi:
Jharkhand will be in focus on Thursday at the ongoing International India Trade Fair being held at New Delhi’s Pragati Maidan from November 14.
“The IITF organisers will observe Thursday as Jharkhand Day. Throughout the entire day, the mineral rich resources of the state, its environment, flora, fauna, local goods and business and investment scopes will be highlighted. Chief minister Hemant Soren will also be present at the state pavilion on the occasion,” a senior government official told TOI.
Soren on Wednesday flew to the national capital after chairing a meeting of the Tribes Advisory Council (TAC) and skipped the events being organised by Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha secretariat to observe the state assembly’s 22nd anniversary. CMO sources said Soren would return to Ranchi on Thursday evening.
Jharkhand, the state public relations department (PRD) said, is a partner state in the fortnight-long fair in which 29 states are participating along with delegations from Afghanistan, Bahrain, Belarus, Iran, Nepal, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, China, Tunisia and Lebanon.
State water resources minister Mithilesh Kumar Thakur represented Jharkhand on the opening day of the fair.
“Jharkhand’s tussar silk is in vogue at the ongoing IITF. Khadi bandis, tussar silk sarees, chandil made silk sarees, kurta, pajamas and Indo-western dresses are finding takers,” the PRD said in a statement.
