Will soon appoint seer to head Murugha Mutt: Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai

CHITRADURGA/DAVANAGERE: Chief minister Basavaraj Bommai on Wednesday said a decision on the demand to appoint a new seer or administrator at Murugha Mutt in Chitradurga will be taken soon after consultations with the law department.
On the sidelines of the party’s Janasankalpa Yatre in Challakere, Bommai said the deputy commissioner of Chitradurga had submitted a report on the mutt, and the law department is looking at it. At a rally in Challakere, Bommai took a dig at Siddaramaiah, opposition leader, saying he has been asking people to vote for Congress if they want him to be the next CM.
“When people are confused on who the CM candidate is between Siddaramaiah and KPCC president DK Shivakumar, how can they vote for him?” he asked. Bommai said his government is committed to restoring Challakere’s glory. “The ISRO unit at Challakere will be the sixth satellite landing centre in the world.
Work has started with financial assistance from the Centre. An additional national highway is coming to Challakere. The region needs to have BJP legislators to execute this project and work for the people,” he said. At another rally in Jagalur in Davanagere district, Bommai said people have decided not to support the Congress party in the next assembly polls.
“Siddaramaiah has disappointed people by not fulfilling assurances during his tenure as CM,” he said. “His government was involved in corruption and scandals.
During the Congress regime, injustice was done to all communities. They tried to divide Veerashaivas and Lingayats and to create backward classes by identifying sub-castes among backward people.” Agriculture and Chitradurga district-in-charge minister BC Patil was conspicuous by his absence for the rally.
