A group of advocates thrash traffic cop, case filed
Kanpur: A group of advocates allegedly thrashed a traffic constable in full public view after a dispute over parking at the VIP Road area on Tuesday. The whole incident of the assault has been captured in CCTV camera, after which on the orders of the Joint Commissioner of Police, a case has been registered at the Kotwali police against the three lawyers under relevant sections of the IPC.
Three teams have been formed to arrest the accused lawyers. Traffic constable Jitendra Kushwaha was on duty at the VIP Road in front of Mahila Thana on Tuesday. According to Jitendra, at around 1:45 pm, advocate Satyendra Bajpai had parked his car on the roadside. As a result, traffic was thrown out of gear in the area.
When he (traffic constable) tried to check Satyendra, the latter allegedly got angry and started abusing him. On protesting, Jitendra along with his other counterparts including one Ashutosh Katiyar and Jeetu abused and later beat him up. The entire incident was however captured in the CCTV camera installed there. On traffic constable Jitendra’s complaint, the Kotwali police have registered a case against the three lawyers under the relevant IPC sections including assault, obstruction in government work and threatening to kill. “An FIR has been registered in the matter. The accused who carried out the incident are being searched. The matter is serious. Strict action will be taken,” said Joint Commissioner of Police Anand Prakash Tiwari.tnn
