Magh Mela: Facade lights to brighten ‘tent city’
Prayagraj: The Prayagraj Mela Authority (PMA) has started preparations to organise Magh Mela-2023 as a memorable religious event following instructions of the state government.
For this purpose, authorities are mulling different plans to make the Magh Mela unique in more than one way.
“We plan to organise the forthcoming Magh Mela-2023 in a grand way, for which we are planning to install facade lights at various sectors of the vast mela area spread in six sectors. The buildings and major tents of the ‘tent city’ would be illuminated at night with façade lights,” said vice-chairman of Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) and CEO of PMA, Arvind Kumar Chauhan.
The official added that besides this, different sectors of the entire ‘tent city’ will have a special theme so that there can be harmony in the pattern in the vast mela area. There will be similar gates at the vending zone in the sectors and the size and type of all will be the same so that there is perfect harmony.
During the last two waves of corona pandemic, the annual religious event was of low profile and as such the Magh Mela-2023 is all set to be made more attractive.
Another highlight of the Magh Mela would be the facilitation centres to be set up at 10 different places of the entire mela area. “These centres will have all the information regarding the facilities in the mela area so that tourists and devotees do not have to wander for information,” said Chauhan. These centres will also have details of all the officials and departments concerned and if anyone wants any specific facility, one could contact the centre.
The authorities would be making arrangements so that the colours of the camps will be the same as possible in a given sector. Although there is no consensus yet on this, a proposal has been mulled over by the authorities.
The important intersections of the mela area would have huge-sized LED display screens. Devotees visiting the mela area will also see programs based on Ramayana, Mahabharata and Puranas on these screens as the same will be broadcast from time to time.
