The Congress will file a review petition in the Supreme Court this week against the recent release of the convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.

The move comes within days of the Centre filing a review petition against the November 11 judgement and the Congress' ruling ally in Tamil Nadu, the DMK, rejoicing over the release of the convicts.

"A fresh review application challenging the Supreme Court decision to release the convicts on the grounds set out in the order will be filed on behalf of the party in the next three, four few days," said an AICC functionary on Monday.
