MUMBAI : The BEST operated a total 471 trips with extra buses deployed to cater to rush of commuters on Saturday and Sunday during the rail megablock for Carnac bridge dismantling.
As many as 49,000 commuters availed of the extra bus service and tickets worth over Rs 3 lakh were sold, said BEST spokesperson Manoj Varade on Monday evening.
Commuters complained that the buses were still “inadequate” as there was more rush on platforms such as Byculla and Dadar stations during the megablock. The main line block went on for 17 hours while the Harbour block was lifted within 19 hours - before the scheduled completion time.
