The Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, will be in attendance to receive the President of South Africa, Ramaphosa's visit to Great Britain on Tuesday, November 22nd.

It is expected that Prince William and Princess Kate will greet the South African President on behalf of the King. The couple at the Corinthia Hotel will meet the President on Tuesday morning. From there, the President will be taken to the Royal Pavillion, where the trio would be met by The King and Queen Consort, Camilla.

At the state banquet organised in honour of President Ramaphosa, King Charles and the President are to give their speeches. This is the first state event that Kate will attend since 2019. That night Kate is expected to appear with her tiara, which will be her first time since 2019.

'Kantha’ Sarees Stand Out

Indian women were seen dressed in sarees that reflected the diversity of India. Some of the women were seen sporting the 'Kantha' sarees a unique style of embroidered sarees originating from Birbhum in West Bengal. The 'Kantha' saree spotted at the Royal Ascot 2022 was designed by Rupa Khatun. Interestingly, Khatun has never heard of the Queen or the Royal Ascot.

The Perfect Fusion

The gala racing event offered a unique fusion of cultures. Sarees with striking motifs and aesthetic patterns were a highlight of the event. Indian women were not only seen in traditional fabrics and patterns, some of them were even spotted with accessories such as sunglasses, bags and flags that complemented their drapes.

The Grandeur Of ‘Mekhala Chador’

One of the attendees at the gala event, Chinu Kishore, wore the Assamese traditional weave 'Mekhala Chador'. Kishore, according to 'NDTV', is a civil engineer at British Railways who represented Assam at the Royal Ascot. The traditional saree consists of two pieces of cloth draped around the body. While the bottom portion is known as Mekhala, the top portion is called Chador. These sarees are traditionally woven and never printed and feature ornamental designs.

London & Kolkata Skyline On Fabric

Dr Dipti Jain, who hails from Kolkata, introduced the idea of a group of women wearing sarees to Royal Ascot 2022 to express pride in the Indian cultural heritage. The congregation of women draped in nine yards was also a way to celebrate the rich tradition of fabric weaving and artisans from India. Dr Jain was spotted wearing a silk saree with hand embroidery on Kolkata and London skylines. Her saree also featured the face of the Queen, a red phone box, Big Ben and the Tower of London created by Rupa Khatun.

Catherine Elizabeth Middleton was born in Reading, and while studying art History at St Andrew's University in Scotland, she met Prince William in 2001. She has three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. The Middleton family had married into the British Aristocracy. Her father had a business in party supplies that did a business worth £ 30 million. Kate had received the ring owned by Diana as her engagement ring from Prince William. The couple now lives in Kensington Palace but might shift to Windsor, at the Adelaide Cottage.

The Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, is expected to don her wedding tiara, called the Cartier Halo Tiara, which had been ordered by George VI for the Queen Mother and then handed to Queen Elizabeth for her 18th birthday.
