Ludhiana: A team of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), zonal office, Chandigarh, seized 20kg “heroin” from a house in Ludhiana’s Dugri area late on Tuesday evening.
The seized narcotics were packed in 20 packets weighing 1kg each.
Though officials from the agency were tight-lipped over the operation, sources said besides heroin, NCB team also seized more than Rs 5 lakh cash, including Dirham, several luxury watches, two mobile phones, seven SIM cards and five pen drives from the house.
Sources said NCB officials arrested one person, identified as Sandeep, who was present in the house at the time of the raid. His mobile phone was being examined to ascertain who all were in touch with him and how this contraband was ferried till the house.
Sources said on Wednesday, the NCB teams also conducted raids in the city to nab others suspected to be connected with the racket. Sources said several people based in other countries are also connected with the drug racket.
Meanwhile till the filing of this news, the accused, Sandeep, was being produced in a Ludhiana court by the agency to seek his remand and samples from all 20 packets were also drawn by NCB for submitting in the court.
