KOCHI: Health minister Veena George has said dengue alert has been issued in seven districts where more number of cases are being reported. The alert has been declared in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Palakkad, Kozhikode and Malappuram.
The minister said specific instructions have been given to the district health administration and to the local bodies to engage in the source level reduction activities to prevent the spread. All preventive measures should be taken in all the districts to prevent the massive spread of the disease.
With the intermittent rains being received in several districts, there are more chances of spreading the disease since the rains will increase the mosquito density. Hence vector control measures should be done to prevent the breeding of the mosquitoes, she said. A high-level meeting was convened by the minister on Tuesday in which the health officials of all districts took part.
