ASI, driver held for taking ₹80,000 bribe
Ludhiana: The Vigilance Bureau has arrested an assistant sub-inspector of Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) and a driver for accepting Rs 80,000 bribe on Tuesday.
A spokesperson of the bureau said the accused ASI Gurjinder Singh, posted at Mohali, and driver Piyush Anand have been arrested on the complaint of Kailash Kumar, a resident of Janakpuri, Ludhiana.
The complainant had approached the Vigilance Bureau alleging that the police official and the driver were demanding a bribe of Rs. 80,000 for allowing his vehicles, laden with iron scrap, to pass without paying entry taxes at inter-state check post in Patiala’s Shambu.
