5 arrested on charge of killing youth in Kolhapur

KOLHAPUR: A total of five people have been arrested by city police on charge of murdering a 22-year-old youth.
The accused were produced in local court and have been remanded in three-day police custody. The deceased — Kumar Gayakwad, a resident of Rajendra Nagar — was stabbed to death by the accused after a brief chase.
The accused have been identified as Amar Satish Mane (22), Akash Dipak Gaste (20), Ravi Kamble (20), Yashodeep Prashant Pordar (19) and Adarsh Arvind Shendekar (19).
“The deceased was found on the road side one of his relatives with several stab wounds. Gayakwad was rushed to the CPR hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead,” a police officer said.
Rajendra Nagar locality was earlier notorious for criminal activites, but in the recent years no major crime took place there as police managed to arrest all the big players from the locality and put them behind bars.
