‘Complete patchworks to prevent road accidents’

Coimbatore: Collector G S Sameeran on Tuesday directed the city corporation and highways department to give special attention to road patchworks to prevent accidents.
Chairing the district road safety meeting at the collectorate, the collector instructed officials to declare a particular location as an accident-prone zone if accidents were reported repeatedly at the spot over a period.
At the meeting, the police department requested officials to install road studs to prevent road accidents. The police department also highlighted the need to carry out road patchwork in 44 places, install speed breakers in 24 places, erect cautionary boards and signs at 27 locations, establish median barriers at nine places, and install high mass light at five locations.
