Cop commits suicide at police training centre in Maharashtra
A police inspector allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at the police training centre in Maharashtra's Dhule district, an official said on Wednesday. The deceased, identified as Praveen Vishwanath Kadam, purportedly left a note before the incident on Tuesday in which he mentioned that no one should be held responsible for his extreme step, he said. A convocation function has been organised at the police training centre on November 21. Kadam had taken part its preparation on Tuesday afternoon, the official said.He was posted at the police training centre in Dhule since 2019 after he came from Pune.

Maha court directs police to conduct probe into Nawab Malik's remarks against Sameer Wankhede
A sessions court in Maharashtra has directed the Washim police to conduct an investigation into the alleged remarks made by Nationalist Congress Party leader Nawab Malik against Sameer Wankhede, the former Mumbai zonal director of the Narcotics Control Bureau.
The sessions court in Washim district passed the order on Tuesday on a complaint filed by Sanjay Wankhede, the cousin of Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer Sameer Wankhede.
Sanjay Wankhede had in his complaint sought an investigation against former Maharashtra minister Malik for making defamatory and false remarks on the caste certificate and caste of Sameer Wankhede and their entire family.He had sought a probe against Malik under the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
Maharashtra to have ST Commission: CM
Reaching out to tribals, the Maharashtra government on Tuesday announced the setting up of a Scheduled Tribe (ST) Commission and teaching the life of tribal leaders to students through history textbooks. Addressing a gathering in Nashik to mark the 'Janjatiya Gaurav Divas', Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said Bhagwan Birsa Munda fought for water, land and forest."The work of all tribal revolutionaries in the country is inspirational and proud. This struggle of tribal revolutionaries helped the nation to achieve its freedom. The government will take efforts for branding and marketing of development concepts and handcraft by the tribals. CM Shinde directs BMC to take necessary measures to prevent measles
Chief minister Eknath Shinde on Tuesday directed the BMC to immediately take necessary measures to prevent measles infections. Amid an increase in measles infections, Shinde spoke to municipal commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal.
Chahal briefed Shinde on the precautions taken by the health department of the BMC. Shinde ordered that hospitals should keep all requisite medicines. He said the vaccination should be sped up and the survey of affected parts carried out on a large scale. Shinde spoke to the health minister too and told the health department to take remedial measures.
BMC plans 400 new sessions for measles vax over 10 days
The BMC has planned 400 additional vaccination sessions over the coming 10 days to cover children who have not received immunizationagainst measles. Besides doubling of Covid-19 ward war rooms for measles monitoring, a control room has been started at the Epidemic Control Room in the BMC headquarters to review the situation. An isolation room has been started at Shivaji Nagar Urban Health Centre in Govandi, the epicentre of the current outbreak, for patients with mild symptoms.
