BJP leader found murdered in shop

Kalaburagi: A BJP leader who had attended chief minister Basavaraj Bommai’s programme in Kalaburagi on Monday, was allegedly murdered by unknown persons at his electronics goods shop in the early hours of Tuesday.
Superintendent of police Isha Pant told TOI that the deceased is Mallikarjun Muthyal, 64, a resident of Sedam. “He had slept in his shop on Monday night. Prima facie, it looks like he was murdered in the early morning. His family members have filed a complaint and said they are unaware of the reason for the murder. Sedam police have intensified the investigation,” she said.
Police said Muthyal was stabbed at his private parts and his neck was tied with a rope.
Muthyal was also a leader of the Koli Kabbaliga community in Sedam. Earlier he was in JD(S) but had joined BJP recently. He was sleeping in his shop daily.
MLA Rajkumar Patil Telkur, CPI Anand Rao, PSI Somalinga Odeyar and other senior police officers visited the spot.
