Six months on, no sign of NEP results
Mangaluru: Hundreds of candidates, who appeared for the first semester NEP examination in April, are anxiously awaiting their results. Even after six months, Mangalore University (MU) has not been able to declare results. It is citing a technical snag for the delay.
Initially, when the evaluation of the third and fifth semesters was carried out, the first semester NEP exam papers were left out.
According to officials, the evaluation had to be conducted under the Unified University and College Management System (UUCMS) and there were no clear-cut instructions on the same. “The evaluation began after the sixth-semester results were announced. However, the entire process has been disrupted and is currently halted. It will take some time to rectify it. The delay has also caused concern among candidates because they need to produce their marks cards to apply for scholarships and proof for hostel re-admission,” said a source familiar with the evaluation process.
However, Mangalore University heads claimed that the unprecedented delay is due to a technical snag in the UUCMS software.
“During a meeting with PL Dharma, registrar (evaluation), on Monday, he informed us that the delay is because of a snag in the UUCMS. Every time we flag a snag, it is solved but comes with another new issue. The higher officials from the department of higher education, including principal secretary Rashmi V Mahesh, have been informed about the same. Our varsity technical staff is also working to rectify it,” said PS Yadapadithaya, vice-chancellor, MU. He denied that there is any issue with paper coding. Meanwhile, the results of the fourth-semester examination, held a few months ago, will be declared within two weeks.
Will issue marks cards soon: VC
The MU was unable to issue mark cards as there was no supply of GSM paper ordered from Mysore Sales International Limited. Yadapadithaya said MU has made arrangements to clear the pending bills of the supplier. The supply was stopped because of this.
“We will issue marks cards as soon as we receive the supply of paper,” Yadapadithaya said.
